Meeting of the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Grushko, with the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Albrecht Boeselager
On June 1st 2021 in Rome the Order of Malta’s Grand Chancellor Albrecht Boeselager received the Russian Federation’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko.
During the long and cordial meeting, parties discussed aspects of bilateral interaction and numerous issues on the international agenda. The representatives exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, Belarus and the Middle East, the relations of the Russian Federation with the countries of the European Union, the economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the work of the services of the Order of Malta in different regions of the world.
Significant humanitarian activities for vulnerable groups of people carried out since 1992 by the Malteser social centers in Russia, in particular in Moscow and St. Petersburg, were highly noted.
On the eve of the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of official relations, occurring in 2022, the parties expressed hope for the intensification of joint cultural and humanitarian initiatives.
Also present at the meeting were the Grand Hospitaller Dominique de La Rochefoucauld-Montbel and the Secretary General for Foreign Affairs Stefano Ronca.
