On 7 February 2020 a meeting took place between the head of mission of the Order of Malta in the Russian Federation H.E. Aimone di Savoia Aosta and the chairman of Federation Council Committee for International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev.
Konstantin Kosachev noted that there are many points of convergence and initiative in the activities and interests of the Russian Federation and the Sovereign Order of Malta.
The senator indicated that the Federation Council highly appreciates the activities of the Sovereign Order of Malta aimed at helping Syria to rebuild the country, people trapped in the conflict zone, as well as to reconstruct destroyed temples and monasteries.
«We also have many joint initiatives in the field of culture, humanitarian aid, and in the protection of traditional Christian values», — listed Kosachev.
The Senator pointed out that in 2018 Russia and the Sovereign Order of Malta celebrated the 25th anniversary of restoration of official relations.
«Our relations count on a great historic basis — observed Kosachev. — Two years ago, on the occasion of anniversary we organised different joint events and many contracts were concluded at the level of the Russian Foreign Ministry leadership and the leadership of the Sovereign Order of Malta».
